Sorry, I don't have the 600 but after looking at the User's Manual, it doesn't mention a removable cover over the Charging Interface located on the back of the control unit. It states to, "Connect the magnetic connector to the charging interface on the rear of the EQUINOX control unit". Does that help?

The housing is waterproof. There is no cover for the charging port. Shouldn't be a problem unless it gets corroded over time. Just rinse it off good after salt water use.

No dumb questions in regards to our detectors, there is always some sort of learning curve going on with our machines, and plenty of guys (and gals) on this forum who are more than willing to help with good answer's.
