I’ve recovered many of these musketballs on this site. There was a fort nearby during the Indian Wars in FL and these date to that time period 1830’s. Not sure about this buckle, thought maybe a halter buckle? It seems to be made of Pewter. I thought brass at first, but after rubbing off some of the patina its silver colored underneath but only came up as about 50 on my AT Max.Can anyone identify? The penny only in there for size reference. B17DC922-C1E0-488B-A0DA-91B83CFC97A4.webp

Nice!!! Congrats!!!

Now that’s a great day!!! I still have yet to find a old good buckle like that. Congratulations

It may be an earlier shoe buckle.

That is what I originally thought, so maybe it is. Thanks for your input

Good job. Nice finds.

Good job on some old relics. Gotta love the AT MAX

Welcome from MI Tommy

Nice outing, congrats on all the saves & welcome to the forum. HH

Hard to tell in the pic, but your buckle appears to have "stays" on the cross bar to keep the tongue from sliding side to side. If that is the case, the buckle would date from around 1900 or later, as that was about the time frame they started using that design.

Congratulations on some very nice saves and welcome from Northern Virginia :skullflag:

Good information, Ill take a closer look at it, but I think you are correct about the stays.
