Claude Stanley Choules
Born March 3rd 1901, joined the Royal Navy in 1916 and was a witness to the scuttling of the German fleet at Scarpa Flow. Last surviving veteran of the Royal Navy.
Frank Woodruff Buckles
Born Feb 1st 1901, joined the US Army in 1917 and served on the Western Front as an ambulance driver, last surviving US "Doughboy", met Hitler in 1938 in Germany and was captured by the Japanese and held as a POW for 3 years. Eligible for burial in Arlington National Cemetery.
John Henry Foster (Jack) Babcock
Born July 23rd 1900, Joined the Canadian Expeditionary Force in 1916, was sent to England but never saw combat, became a US citizen in 1946 and served in the US Army during WW2. Eligible for a State Funeral.
Netherwood (Ned) Hughes
Born June 12th 1900, drafted into the British Army in 1918 as a driver, was still in training when the war ended.
John Campbell (Jack) Ross
Born March 11th 1899, joined the Australian Army in 1918 as a wireless operator, served in the Australian Home Guard in WW2.
Henry John (Harry) Patch
Born June 17th 1898, drafted in 1917, last veteran to serve in the trenches and see combat, and last survivor of the battle of Passchendaele, wounded in action, Knight of the Légion d'honneur (France) and Knight of the Order of Leopold (Belgium).
Henry William Allingham
Born June 6th 1896, joined the Royal Naval Air Service (predecessor to the RAF) in 1915, last witness to the Battle of Jutland and the Somme, Knight of the Légion d'honneur (France), Europe's oldest man and the oldest ever Englishman.
