A couple of weeks ago, I stopped into a small town bank and, get this, asked for half dollars. It was my 4th stop on an impromptu road trip. I only had $187 of seed money, so I grabbed 18 rolls. I knew they had more, but I couldn't swing a bigger pickup until after dumping. I found a 1953 B.F. and 1943 WL. I was sick that I had likely left some behind.

Today, I got a chance to revisit smallville and I wasn't alone. I had a pocket full of FRN and was ready for any answer to my question "how many can you sell me?" It was $620 bringing the total from this bank to $800. The teller said that somebody use to buy boxes regularly, but left them hanging with 2 boxes and they'd been carrying them on the books for 2.5 years. He was thrilled to be rid of them!

There were enders.
There were 18 90% (including the 2 from before)
There were 8 40%
There was 1 NIFC

This haul nearly doubled my inventory of 90% Ag (I've only been at it a few months, I typically find many more 40% than 90%).

nice finds.....i would say hopefully thats not from my area.....but after holding em for 2 and a half years im pretty sure im still safe...lol. Though every now and then some new CRHer hops into my bank

nice score. I've found a fair amount of B.F's but I'm still hoping to find my first WL - I know I'll be shocked if and when I do.

Awesome score! :icon_sunny:
Congrats! Glad to hear that you stayed on it and ran that vein out.
Nice when you can take a load off the tellers so they don't have to account for those rolls on their balance sheets. Classic win-win, but I have to believe you win so much bigger. :icon_thumleft:
Best of luck next door to smallville!

Nice finds! Do the halves we dump really just sit till they sell them? I figured they would return them to Brinks or something?

nice.. I have only found one walker ender so far with two frank enders!!! congrats!!

I think it just depends on the bank - some banks can't wait to get rid of them and send them to Brinks as fast as they can

The dumps do get sent out regularly. When the bank gets a full bag (either $1k or $500 depending on the bank), they send it out to their coin vault via whatever service they use. The coin then gets rolled and stored until an order comes in.

This score was somebody's order that they never came back for. It blew me away to know that those things had been sitting there for that long waiting for the next CRH'er to come along and all thanks to somebody who exited the hobby too early.

Thanks for the helfpul information! Yea it was your lucky day! Hope you have many more

I hear alot of people (on Tnet) talk about the banks will hold onto halfs until they get a 500 dolllar bag, or a 1,000 dollar bag, and then send them to brinks or loomis... Here where I am, I have gotten a much different impression. I will walk into a bank, and ask if they have any half dollars, and they will say, oh, sorry, we had $31 bucks worth, but we sent them with brinks this morning. I have heard that regularly since I started CRH'ing, I remember when a bank told me, we just sent the 7 bucks worth that we had with brinks (or loomis) earlier today... You just missed them. So I think it is totally just based on the bank and how they do things....
