Yes you are right to a point, but it doesn't alter the fact that the Saxons made there way to England in the 4thc after the Roman occupation, continetal sceats turn up in most parts of Europe, before they were minted hereDeepdiger60 said:Silver Searcher said:Well actually noDeepdiger60 said:Great old English coinsGood finds in Holland

My mistake i was going by the information from wikipedia

Sceattas (singular sceat, not sceatta) were small, thick silver coins minted in England, Frisia and Jutland during the Anglo-Saxon period
Well it was no mistake, finding sceatta in the part of Holland now called Friesland in any case. We have found plenty there over the years, they are real neat coins. The last few years it appears that Friesland has been searched out, we have not found any silver coins there, they must be there though, so maybe just bad luck. But in West Friesland (across the big sea or lake as it now is) and the other provinces here we find very few sceatta.Deepdiger60 said:My mistake i was going by the information from wikipediaSilver Searcher said:Well actually noDeepdiger60 said:Great old English coinsGood finds in Holland
