Got out on another hunt with Todd(Thiltzy) to a couple sites he found.
1st site was pretty hammered, then we wandered up the hill to find another site.we saw all the walls and 2 square piles of stones.possible chimney piles.thinking this must have been a cabin site because no cellar hole was dug.buttons started poppin almost immediately.tombacs,a pewter button, and mostly early one piece buttons.i nabbed a connecticut copper as well.when i dug one of the large dandy's i showed Todd & I said it looked like it was in a fire.
cleaning up the buttons I save the 4 large dandy's for last.the burnt one i was scrubbing with the brass brush and saw the arrows clutched in the eagles talon :O'
what a shame out of all the buttons i dug today this is the one that ended up in a fire :(,
and the blob of silver slag or whatever metal it is almost went in the garbage dirty, why i decided to scrub it i'll never know but it has a partial imprint of a large cent on it 8(
was a real fun hunt with Todd & look forward to going back to this site with him

From one Dave to another, nice finds. 91 coppers in a year is incredible, I used to set my goal at 24 and usually ended up with 30-40 and thought I was doing good :) The CT looks like a 1786 and it's hard to tell from a picture but I think there's room for improvement on the GW. It seems like most of the detail is there, look at the 5:00 position, might just have to get the scale off it. PM me if you'd like to discuss a few things you might try..... Dave

Man thats some killer finds, And for the GW buttons to be so rare (At least down this way) I find it Amazing that you have found 4! Just snap a shot of your Hourse shoe and send it to me......lol....................HH

Wow! Congrats on the totals!!!

I dug an English livery button that looked like that in a farm field. Drop it in a little vinegar and keep and eye on it. Mine cleaned up real nice and revealed almost all the detail.
