A bell a badge and first Gold of 2010

I carefully opened the locket, it looks like there must have been a picture inside once
on the back it reads "love always Bill xmas 1954"

Also found 8 musket balls, 1917 penny and a 20p

Nice finds, does that BHS maybe stand for a High School from somewhere around your area?

Your bell kind of looks like one I picked up at the yard in the early winter.

Bells were a common adornment to the harness of the horse, the hers bell find is 18 and 19 Century . They were held in an arch attached to the collar of the horse, containing three, four, five or six bells. They warned of the approach of the wagon and were also for decoration and allowed the horses to be found in the morning after being freed at night time. There were usually no bells on the saddle horse as they would have interfered with the jerk line and would also been ringing under the driver’s nose. Normally the leader horses had the five lighter bells, the middle the four-bell arch and the wheel horse the 3 heavy bells.

Hi WhiteHunter, how big is the bell, could you put something next to it for comparison.

when jewelery is in a remote area i always wonder if somebody dumped a body there . i hope im not being weird or something . does this ever cross anyone elses mind . with all the missing people , im just sayin.

haha, i expect they where just having a picnic or just wandering about and the chain came undone
