A little about me;
I am interested in joining any Asheville MDing club or group of friends into MDing. I live in Alexander about 15 minutes NW of downtown. I am a cache/relic/treasure hunter but, for several years in my past I was employed as an archaeologist tech both in lab and field work for many years with the Pensacola Archaeology lab, Museum of Science and industry in Tampa, Museum of the Rockies at Montana State in Bozeman and volunteered as a docent for the Burke Museum in Seattle, and briefly volunteered at the Grey Fossil Site and museum in eastern Tennessee. As much experience as I've had working for various foundations, to me I get the most enjoyment from research and finding objects. Not everything needs to be locked in some museum basement catalogue drawer lost to the eyes of everyone else without a pass.
Although I've owned a Tesoro lobo for a couple of years I haven't done much detecting here in NC, but I did just order a Garrett AT Pro. The Garrett Carrot and a set of G.G. Amphibian headphones. I am hoping to do more water searches.
I have some land adjacent to my property which is rugged but had sometime in the past some type of early farm/ history. Approx 200+- acres. Also the property I live on was once part of a turpentine plantation. Lastly on my mothers side of the family own and operate the oldest family run ( sugarcane ) plantation in the US. It's called The Enterprise. They now own and operate Race Land, Stirling and one other mill. All of this is in south central Louisiana. 1791 to the present. There is colonial/Civil War era, and American Indian culture; Some Atakapa and Chititmacha. I love history and have collected for many years and am also into old farm technology, plus Steam or hit and miss engines. I really want to meet other fellow MD'ers in my area and I am willing to search out other areas of exploration.
I also own a few kayaks for river and creek travel. I am still very new to this hobby so please forgive me if I ask too many questions.
