So yesterday started with me tracking across the bridge to go to court for a ticket in Virginia. As I had to take off work to do so, I figured why not spend the rest of the day digging. My friend and I took a gamble on a supposed "old home site" that he had procured. Did it ever turn out to be worth it. Button after button was coming out of the ground (a total of about 20 combined ) along with a couple shoe buckles and other early pieces. The statement that was made as the day wore on was something along the lines of "with all these flat buttons there has to be some coins here". Within the next few holes I pulled out a very crusty 1808 half cent! Need a little help identifying some of the odds and ends. The ring looking object, the t looking one, the longer brass one with the line around one side, anyone seen any silver looking buttons / rivets as the bottom button looks, and the small semi circular piece of brass with the half circle in it. Thanks for looking guys!

Nice old buckle pieces.

So this was Northern Virginia I'm guessing? Great finds!

Not arlington area northern, more along the lines of caroline countyish.

Sweet finds. That one buckle is cool.way to go

Nice finds skateandcreate. Now, don't be running out to get a ticket in Maryland so you can hunt!

Thanks guys. Plan on giving that half cent a peroxide bath. I'll add some pics of the results

That's a nice little site you guys got into. Both of those buckles in the 2nd pic are 1700s, which means there's s good chance you're gonna dig some colonial silver at that site. Good luck when you guys go back.

Any insight on the what's its around the outside? And if that bottom button/rivet is period?

nice finds congrats HH
