First thing I posted in What Is It. Might be an old copper resistor, but I welcome more opinions. It's about 4" x 2.5" x 2".

Also got an old James Madison brass token, same as this one 4 wheats, a little buckle, a British 2 Pence, a 1991 Washington Capitals pin, a 1982 Metro token, and a wee bit of silver in the form of an earring.

Looks like the stator (fixed) part of a variable capacitor as was commonly used to tune tube radios. The rotor (movable) part was either directly connected to the tuning knob or had a dial cord that connected it to the knob. As the rotor turned, it had an array of plates that meshed with this part, changing the tuning.
