A bit stumped

[Older The Better]

I was shown this rock, at first I thought just chert/flint but after seeing other angles I’m a bit stumped, my best guess is some type of horn coral with a sponge growing on it. Then it was all replaced with silica minerals... you can see the layers on the possible coral part and the little pores on the sponge looking part but I’m just guessing at this point... any better or correct explanations are welcome

I do not think this is a fossil. Geological?

Looks like a flint nodule with some limestone build up on that one end.

Maybe you’re right but that internal structure seems more of a fossil than a nodule. Above the line seems to keep that spongy structure while beneath is more concentric and massive in the middle. But chert nodule was my first reaction maybe I’m over thinking it

Florida has a lot of fossil coral. Much is translucent. The Native Americans made beautiful points from it. Many are right now posted in the artifact forum.
