Found yesterday, where both civil war and Spanish American

The photos below show copper rivets which have the (raised) "hollow" 5-point star mark seen on your find... and also show the maker-labeled box they came in. According to the linked webpage below, the Plume & Atwood Manufacturing Company was first organized in 1869 but did not use the name "Plume & Atwood" until 1871.

When our esteemed fellow Relic-ID Helper Nhbenz posted those photos here in the What Is It? forum several years ago, he indicated this labeled box dated to the 1920s.

My dad ran a shoe/leather shop for over 50yrs. I remember seeing boxes of assorted star rivets. the
