Hello Everyone,

Today, I went out for a hunt at another old park and tried my usual walk in the wooded area technique. Boy it was cold (13 degrees) and I only lasted about 1.5 hours, but did find two keepers: 1925 Mercury dime and 1934 Wheat cent. I’m looking forward to this week; it will be in the 40’s for most of the week — a heat wave!

Thank you for looking,

GL & HH

Great technique and yes quite cold out there. I'm looking forward to getting out the first part of the week with the warmer temps, however looks really cold again after that. Good finds for the short time out. HH

I get the itch to go hunt in the winter too but 13 degrees, i think i would have stayed in and just itched the itch. Awesome job

That hunting the wooded periphery strategy is paying out consistently for you - I too have found my last three silvers in original forest floors.

Awesome finds. I admire your enthusiasm for this hobby.

what is your walk in the wooded area technique? curious. nice finds. congrats!!!!

Nice cold walk, but worth it. Nice silver. Congrats.

I can't speak for the professor, but somehow it occurred to me that forests near towns , would be good places to find good coins and relics. This would include older campgrounds and along rivers . I'm certainly not suggesting that this is a new idea , or rocket science - it's just taken me a while (11 years) to realize that these are my favorite environments to detect. Might be less about technique than location.

i almost always hunt in the woods or wooded areas. preparation and planning helps, but sometimes you just have to get lucky also. i use google earth to find good spots and locations. this saves $ on gas and time. I am working on an area now that someone told me an old plantation was on. That i have to check out. it is in the woods, but i dont mind that. i am at home in the woods. :occasion18:

13 :censored: degrees :notworthy: Man you are bit bad. Congrats on pulling those 2 keepers and lasting as long as you did. Saturday I hunted in the high 20's, but had to stay in the unshaded areas only. I lasted or 2 hours.

I'd say that was a walk worth getting cold for. Congrats on the 2 coins.
