These were both found around a cellar hole in central Virginia and other than harmonica reeds I have little else so far to date the site.
The silver washed buckle measures just over 2 1/4 x 1 1/2 inches and The clipped corner plate measures just over 2 5/8 x 1 5/8 inches.
An era and the use of these items would be cool !
I posted these in the What's it forum but not much info as of yet.
The site they were found at is one of a number of home sites along the base of a mountain that I have been searching for years. The earliest one has produced tombac buttons and a 1800 large cent.
A better feel for the date of this site may help me locate additional areas to search
Many thanks !

Can't help you with your questions....but I think those are some good finds and I would keep looking in that area.

Thecanonballguy helped me out with a date range of plus or minus 1900 on the plate. This should be helpful in tracking these home sites.

Congratualtions on the nice finds! :occasion14:

Stoneman, Congrat's on some cool finds. I really like the plate.
