A bunch of coins and tokens in the coinstar reject bin

Today I was at a nearby Shaw's and checked the Coinstar reject bin. It was full, and took a while to dig all the coins out. It looks to me like someone's coin collection was run through the machine.

The highlight for me is the 2 steel 1943 cents. One is in rough shape, but at least I know the date. The other US coins added up to $1.10. There was also a Costa Rican 10 colones and a 50 Euro cents piece from the Netherlands. There were 3 Canadian coins, including a 1940 King George cent, a 1953 young Queen Elizabeth 5 cents and a 2009 old Queen Elizabeth 5 cents.
There are also a bunch of British coins. At first I thought I had some silver with 3 old shillings (1948, 1957, and 1963). However, I learned that silver in shillings ended in 1946. Other coins were a 1973 10-pence, 1971, 1978 and 1978 2-pence, and 4 1-penny coins.

For the tokens, there are 8 different copper tokens with readable markings, along with 5 slick copper disks. And just for fun, there is also a vintage Heads/Tails adult flipping coin. I'll have to do a little more research into the tokens.

I have one of those heads & tails tokens. I believe they were a novelty item back in the 1950s.

That is a great haul...where was the coinstar located in the store...just curious...looks like you got some nice older coins...love the King Georges...check the 43 steels...you never know, could be copper.

The machine is right by the inner exit door, just past the cash registers. Those steel pennies are definitely steel, the color is what attracted my attention!

Yeah, the age of the coins is why I think it was a sort of a collection. Like my Dad used to put unusual coins in the top drawer of his dresser. I have a similar bin on top of my dresser. My guess is that someone found that collection of coins and ran them through the machine.
