Back before the rollover in 1999 I started saving pennies that were older than 1982. I had two cousins that each had big jars full of pennies and I went through those and picked out all the pennies <1982 and purchased them. In 2001 I was going through some tough times and rolled up all of those pennies and took them to the bank and got bills for them. There were a lot of them. If I remember correctly, I got over $100 for them (it may have been much more). They are out there somewhere. Who knows.
