It perplexes me why people leave perfectly good money in the coinstars...sometimes quite a bit. Once in a blue moon I'll get some good old coins..
3/4 of my wheatback collection has come from there...with a few silvers...it's quite a rush for me...

I notice you worked for USPS as a driver...I work as a rural carrier....

No S mark...I recall looking for that...but here's another photo...maybe you can spot something I don't see. Thanks

That IS an "S" mint mark! I just don't see the 1923 however..........

Check out anything, a coin book, google, etc., and learn where mint marks are located on coins as that is clearly a San Francisco minted coin.

Thanks, I did check years ago now that I think back but just plain forgot....your information helped trigger my memory. :)

Found it
Yeah it's pretty worn
1923 was just a guess...

Thanks for posting! I found a Chinese cash coin a few years back in the yard of a 1920s house. The owner remembered his dad bringing them back from a work trip to China in the 1960s. I guess that goes to show that you can find old stuff in newer places!

Interesting, I wasn't the sure the coins were authentic at first...the house (Capitol hill) I found them in front of looks older, maybe early 1900's, is a rental now so it was difficult to get the history of the owners...I even contacted the real estate agent when it was up for sale but no luck...
