went to an abandoned school which is about 40 miles from my house on a whim. Pulled a nice chunk of clad and some other odds and ends but was getting bored with the modern stuff. plus it was HOTTTTT!!!!,
so at 730 i bailed and on my way home i decided to go up the road a little farther and search for an old farmhouse to hunt. Well low and behold, i found a gem of a house with the owner sitting on the front porch. After introducing myself we got to talking about his property. The man was 87 yrs old and said he was born in the house, plus his parents built it which i would bet it makes it at least late 1800s. When i asked permission to detect it he said that i could but it was searched over last month and i wouldnt find anything. I was kinda bummed i missed out on being the first one to hit it but i figured no one ever finds everything. At this point i was about 46 miles away from home, nah im not obsessed with this hobby lol. So I went in pro mode and dug everything. I only dug 9 targets in an hr and found some goods! a 1945 merc, and 2 wheats (1914, 1945) plus the other junk you see in the pic.
Im not sure what the handful of little round things were, they were about 6 inches deep and theres a ton more in the plug, but i got bored pulling em out lol. That merc was about 6 inches as well and was giving a wierd signal. I forgot to note the numbers but there was some junk wire in the hole with it which gave a grunt in one direction and a sweet high tone in the other, when i showed the owner he said wow im surprised you found anything, the other fellas were here for hours!, just goes to show ya cant hunt out a site in just a few hours!! thanks for looking and HH!!
