Today I went to a new site close to home. Just another 1800's farm site with grass low enough to swing a coil. No buildings left at this place but the celler hole was clearly visible. I dug all 4 coins in the first 10 mins. between two trees in the back yard, and then nothing for another hour there.
But I did get my first war nickel and first Tootsie Toy, a train car crane. Also a cool huge axehead and a couple (hitching post?) rings.
Thanks for looking!

Single bit axe, looks 20th century, one hitch ring and a bridle rig ring, awesome tootsie toy! Too bad you couldn't get both pieces, it came with a tractor also if I remember right. Oh yeah, sweet silver too!

Great digs!

John, that is such a cool hunt!!!

That train-crane is just awesome!!! Not to mention the gorgeous wheat Merc and the great war nickel!!

Congrats!!!

I'd display that toy for sure!

Nice finds for a quick hunt!
Hit it again because I'm sure there's gotta be some more goodies there.
Good Luck!
Mike

Thanks guys! Guess I forgot to mention that I found the Merc there also :tongue3:
I also found a pic of what the Tootsie looks like before being buried for 50 years.

Great finds! That's the way to find them... all in the first 10 minutes!! Now if you only had another site or two to go to after 30 minutes had expired. At least you knew right where to go to get the loot. Congrats! One more and you'll be at 20 silver already! I've got some catching up to do now... I'm at 16. Congrat on your first war nickel and tootsie toy :)

Nice job on the silver

I love that Tootsie Toy Crane. . . I've never seen on like that.

Good luck this weekend!
Mark

Wow Dad sounds like that was a great hunt. You found a nice variety of stuff there, that crane sure is neat. We need more sites that produce finds like that. And high five on your first war nickel and tootsie toy.
