Had a couple hours to kill today so I headed over to the local park.Ended up not detecting the park but beyond it on a heavily wooded hillside.I had noticed before some old tree carvings there. Some had dates from the 40s and 50s so I thought I might get lucky and snag some older drops.Over the course of about three hours and alot of ground, I managed eight wheats (26-58), one 33 Canada Cent, two Mercs,an old Deco rhinestone pin, a silver button, and a fabulous foreign ring.....(Hong Kong). The Mercs are a 43 and a 19. The 19 is in beautiful condition. One of the wheats is a 53 with a doubled 3.I cleaned it up , but I dont know if it will show in the pic.All in all , no whoohaas but not a stinker either. Thanks for lookin and the best of luck to all.....Joe

A day off Joe... be still my heart :)
Must have some vac days to burn, use em or lose em.

Glad you got out and that rain held off at least,
yesterday would have been nicer.
Congrats on all the cool finds,
love that Art Deco pin and the Mercs off course.

Smiles!

No doubled-die error listed for that 53 but it definitely looks like it to me.
Excellent days digs! That 1919 Merc is a beauty. That broach is a neat find.

Yes Bobby, I actually took more than one day off in a week.Actually I took a whole ten days and with good reason.Im headed up to my cottage to.......
Spend some QT with my ailing Mother...
Attend the birth of my second Grand daughter....
Welcome my newest Niece into the world.....born 10/8....
Celebrate my inlaws 50th anniversary......
Celebrate my father in laws winning of the local County commissioners seat.....
All this wrapped around my hosting of a five day deer camp.
Dont think Ill be getting in any treasure hunting but Im sure to have a memorable week.

Cool digs. Yeah, that Canadian "wheat" penny is cool. I have the complete Canadian small cent set. No real key dates. You did well with a couple mercs. :)
