It's 3 and a half cm wide and 4 cm long, any idea what it is? Its pure silver, very light and in the flat front has the Initials Lt. G.R done in fancy joint writing, very fancy decoration engraved all along the side

Maybe rom the handle of an officer's dressing brush.

This one is from Tiffany. Early 20th C.

pretty sure that's the (aluminum) surround of a spring wire and hook for a vintage glass bulb Christmas tree ornament

one would think since it's very light it would be Aluminum not silver. silver is some what heavy .I agree with jeweler guy.

I agree Christmas Ornament Cap. A clear picture of the markings would go a long way in solving this. I've seen some strange things in my 19 years as a military brat and 23 years as a GI. But that seems to be a weird place and a small item to personalize.

Not sure what it is. Agree, clear pictures would definitely help. At 1.38" W by 1.57" L that is much larger than the caps on vintage glass Christmas tree ornaments I own.

I does look like it is from a Christmas tree ornament. Look at it with a magnifying glass. Maybe the " LT." is really " LTD,, Ltd ."

That would be a very large ornament...

Ah, been a long day. At first glance, thought the post read, Lt. G.R. Done. That would be a cool name anyway. Looks to be made too light for military issue, could have been an inscribed gift from a family member? Sorry, not much help in solving the question.

Until you post an in focus picture of the lettering it will be hard to ID this piece.
