Detected this area of a small forest where I found a crusty copper coin several days ago. Figured there would be less snow in the forest but it was still too deep. We have about 6?-8? of snow on the fields, some of the 12? has melted off but not enough. Dug up several pieces of trash. I knew it was a doomed hunt but didn?t care, still had a good time being out there and got some peace of mind. I did find two of the nicest rusty nails though, LOL! It?s still not over, plan on getting a few more days of detecting before total freeze occurs. Winter starts today on the calendar so happy winter. After tomorrow, the days will start getting longer. yes geting out is the fun, the finds are the extras,

Winter will be gone before ya know it! Bet those are some really nice rusty nails too!

Beautiful pictures! Thanks!

Mike, I've got to give you credit for even going out in those conditions. I'm so desperate to go hunting right now, that I'm asking people I work with if they have dirt floors in their basement that I can detect!

Thanks for the great idea!!!!!!! ;) I am going to my moms for Christmas...and she has a dirt floor in the older part of her basement!!!!! Yeehaw! ....

yeah mike its getting pretty damn cold around here too! they are calling for a warm up into the 40s over the weekend so im gonna give it a shot on fri and sat. after that the season will more than likely be done for good. as omni said "its time again for research season!"

With all your great finds, I figured you would have a snow blower by now. ;D. Any day out hunting is a great day, but like RJ said, finds are the extra pudding on the cake. Good luck when the snow subsides a little.

I would settle for just watching someone detect --- lol -- praying for a heat wave!!! ;D
