In the past I looked for information on the Discovery 3300 and never really found much on youtube. I decided to make up a few videos of my own, covering basic operation and some tips I have figured out after spending some time using the 3300. Hopefully these will help others looking for information. They are all available in HD but the first two are a bit lower quality as they were shot indoors with a lower end camera but the third was done outside with the DSLR. I plan on shooting some more detecting videos in the future so if you like the videos subscribe on youtube.

All metal mode

Disc, Notch, Zap

Ground Balance, Pinpoint, Recovery time

Thanks,
Chadd

Thanks for the reply. I hope the videos will help others out, there just aren't many videos out there for BH detectors in general and really nothing that I could find on the 3300.

I got my DD coil on Friday and took the detector out to an old home site that was torn down back in the 60's. The place is full of trash and is really hard to detect. The DD coil seemed to do better than the stock coil as far as target separation but it is still a very challenging area to detect. I never have found any coins at the location but I know they have to be there. I had high hopes when I went out today but only found some buttons, shotgun shells, wire, and some large iron. Large encrusted iron and aluminum cans are a bane to the 3300. Even though I know better when the VDI reads 199 on a target I still can't bring myself to not dig it. :BangHead:

When hunting places like this I can't help but wonder how much of a difference a higher $$ detector would make in areas like that.

Thanks,
Chadd

Chad you might want to use a 4 inch coil in that trashy area .

Thanks, Chadd..........Your videos and tips are GREAT!!......I have only had my BH 3300 since 12/12/12, but your tips will help me a lot. Please post your comments on your future results with the DD coil....I plan to buy one in the future.

Hope the videos help you out. I took the camera with me the other day when I went hunting but didn't really find much interesting so I didn't record anything. Parks are so much easier to hunt than old home sites are that's for sure.

You have found some nice coins with your 3300, I am not sure what all I have found because I never seem to take the time to write anything down.

Chadd......I went today to a worked out site, old school burned down in 1972 and a NEW church built there now, but a very large area that the school used to play baseball, and found only 1 clad quarter, 1 dime BUT it was a 1942 silver Mercury,... 27 cents BUT 6 were wheats, and a small .925 sterling silver charm. I was using some of your tips, slowing down and really working the deeper targets....I was very happy with my results.......Thanks!!

Happy to hear of your success. We got ~8" of snow Sunday, most of it is melted off now but it is a mess around here. I hope to get out later in the week and hunt a few old school house locations.

Chadd.......I have hunted a lot of towns in Illinois......I was born there 71 years ago in Knox county, near Peoria......and retired & moved to Florida in 1988.....SO....yes I know the snow you get there....but the moisture after the snow should help deeper target finds.....Good Luck!!

Wow!! This is very interesting, because of these tips.....Found a 15 coin drop in one hole yesterday, in the same baseball field that I found my last silver 1942 Mercury Dime on Tuesday.......What was interesting, I was running on full discrimination, rejecting nickels and modern post 1982 zinc cents.
The mix was 1 clad quarter, 2 clad dimes, 3 nickels, and 9 pennies which were ALL post 1982 zinc cents....YET I received a strong dime quarter signal and they were all only 2 inches deep......that it is amazing while rejecting the 3 nickels and the 9 zinc cents.......nothing was dated after year 2000........Good test on the BH 3300 for a mix multiple drop. Thanks, again for your tips....

Man you have been out there tearing it up.

I went out to a local park yesterday with the 3300 and the DD coil and it is going to take some getting used to. I am still having a hard time pinpointing with the DD, similar to the stock coil it will detect a target on both the leading edge, center and trailing edge of your swing with the center being much stronger, but since it is DD it does so in a flat line from front to back of the coil. There were times I thought I had multiple targets yet it was only one. That is also why it is giving me fits pinpointing with it. I brought it home and spent some time out in the yard with it and some surface targets to get a visual of what was going on.

I also got a 4" coil for trashy areas and a camera mount for the detector so I can mount my camera to it while using it. I hope to get some time to go out in the next few days.

Wow..after watching the ground balance I know I now have to go over all the sites I have done the past 2 months. Ive just left the balance set at preset because when I would try a manual ground balance it would scream as you said and I assumed it was set to high. I've found about $30 worth of clad quarters and dimes, 12 wheats, a silver ring, and two silver Rosie's at my old high school the past month.

Now wondering what I missed deep at that location, and some others by always running in preset mode. I plan to go back to the high school tomorrow and will post results of the difference this makes.

Thanks a bunch.

No problem glad they helped you out. I have been trying to get out and make a few more videos but the weather has been crappy here the last several weeks. I may get out today or tomorrow for a little bit.
