Here are some items that I recently cleaned up from a few trips to a mining town.

The top half of a waffle iron.

Two drill bits used to drill into the coal seam. 17" and 23" long

A toy gun and a hatchet head.

A copper plate that is stamped ...Somers, Fitier & Todd Co. Machinery and Supplies Pittsburgh, Penna. 1 1/2" x 3 1/2"

And a piece of copper that would seem trivial to most people but interesting to me as it shows how they cut out round circles to use as ID tags for their load of coal from the mines.

I love that waffle iron top - that is so unique. I can just imagine the guys sitting around waiting for their waffles. Top notch finds.

That's some nice stuff!!

Gives a little snapshot of life back then. Both my grandfather & his father were miners, so it's real interesting to me. Keep finding & posting 'em!!
