I don't know the date of the token but I did find a few interesting facts that may put you in a close time span. Max Klein was located in Allegheny. Allegheny is now a neighborhood in Pittsburgh. It is called "Northside"
The company distilled, bottled, and sold Rye Whiskey for $1 a quart.
They were sold under the names of Duquesne, Bear Creek , Peter Pan, Rockport Rye, and Silver Age.
The Company was known as Max Klein from 1877 - 1903. It was also known as Max Klein & Sons from 1904 - 1912. Your token would be in the 1877 - 1903 bracket of time. It is believed that there are only 21 - 40 of these tokens known to exist and that the token is made of hard rubber.
Another interesting fact is that the Stadiums where the Pittsburgh Pirates and the Pittsburgh Steelers play are built over the sites where the Max Klein companies once stood.
Nice recovery.

Congratulations, that is an extremely cool find. Also cool that a member of T- net was able to provide so much information. Love this site!

Really interesting find! Great to see historical items found by methods other than a metal detector, and great to see people providing a historical perspective (...Against The Wind).
