Got out today for the first time in a couple weeks. I had spent some time skiing in Colorado. When I got back from there, softball practice started. So, I was anxious to get some coinshooting in. Went to my old reliable amusement park woods and was not disappointed. The first find after about 10 minutes was a silver War Nickel. Then a few scattered Wheaties and a Buffalo Nickel were found. After about 2 hours I got a penny/dime signal at 5 inches, which turned out to be a thin 1918 Mercury Dime. After another hour I got a strange signal about 6 inches deep, which turned out to be a really nice 1942 Mercury Dime on edge. Also found a neat little anchor button. My silver total from these woods is now 609, including everything from a half dime to several half dollars.

Here's the War Nickel:

Congratulations on your latest coins from your site ... that place has definitely put some fine coins in your pockets!

Don't tell " Colonel SE " about your spot.
Otherwise he'll find a thousand silver and 6200 wheat pennies that all the other " TOP DETECTORISTS " failed to find.

I always like to see what you pull out of that place, thanks for sharing! That is a bunch of silver so far out of there!

I've been reading your posts about the amusement park woods for a while, but didn't realize how many silvers you'd pulled. Fantastic!

congrats on all that silver! keep it up   best of luck and HH

Awesome job on the silver and oldies! Dude your pictures are always so neat! I'm not joking either. How do you make your pictures so neat?

Thanks, folks, for the nice comments. But remember, I've been hunting this place every winter for about 25 years. And I'm not the only one who has hunted it over the years. Plenty of other folks have hunted it. Some have done real well, while others haven't. This stretch of woods is about 300 yards long and about 100 yards wide. I believe it was the picnic woods for the amusement park. The park was in operation from the 1890's to the 1950's. There's nothing left of the park now. There's mostly housing and apartments on the park land now. Just the woods remain.

Detectingfreak,

I use a Nikon Coolpix 3200 for my pictures. I myself don't think it does such a great job on close-ups. There's only one setting I can use for close-ups and it gives the pictures a blue tint. I use a Corel Paint Shop Pro - Photo X1 program to size and edit the pictures uniformly. Still I don't do as good a job as Captn SE. You ever see his pictures? There really great. Hope I helped you out. HH
