While we were hunting our usual colonial site Reid ventured into the woods and found a nice, old brick cellar hole. Its only about 50 yards from the field that's given up 8-10 pieces of colonial silver, a couple hundred buttons including 2 Rev War regimentals, and many other artifacts dating back as far as the late 1600s. We've been looking for the long-lost homesite here, and this cellar hole could be it although there was also a CW-era home at this location as well, so we're not sure what we have here just yet. We were also exploring a little further into the woods and along some deep ravines and came across a few potential bottle dumps. Found a couple whole bottles from the early 1900s, but Reid also found a large bottom piece from a 1700s onion bottle. So we need to get back in there and scrounge around a bit before the snakes and ticks take over. Hopefully we can locate a colonial trash pit as that's been at the top of our list since we first started hunting this site.
