The work around the house is starting to slow down so I was able to get out for a few hours yesterday. The honey do list is down to only a few items but most of the major stuff is done. So lets talk about finds....

Well I had my first 100+ coin day but I did not have to dig a bunch of holes just two. Okay I dug more then just two holes but out of all the holes I dug I hit one with 51 coins made up of nickels and dimes all modern except for one 1939 Nickel. Then I had another hole where I dug a roll of dimes (a first for me). I could just make out the remains of the paper. Found all fifty dimes and one was a 1963 - it was my only silver for the day.

I have two parks that I'm really enjoying detecting. That is where I had my two large coin hits. I also found a small diamond ring at one park in the out field of a baseball field. I can't make out the hallmarks but I think one is a crown and my wife thinks the other is a monkey with a three digit number under it - the last two digits look like two zeros???

At the other park I found a junk necklace - thought it was silver but could not find any markings and part of what looks to have been a pin for someones first holy communion.

The ornate handle came from one of my weekend house projects. I was breaking up a cement patio in my backyard so I had to detect the ground underneath it once I had it broken up.

Next weekend I'm doing some volunteer work then I'm working the following weekend and since it my daughters soccer season we have games each Saturday so it may be a few weeks until I have something to post. Then again I may be able to sneak out for some short hunts. I'll keep you posted...enjoy the pictures.

Thanks...I pretty sure it is gold just not sure what quality. I think they only use hallmarks on gold, silver and platinum. From the color it can rule out silver and platinum.

I also forgot to mention my three wheaties in the post which are 19,29 and 57.

Thanks for looking.

Excellent finds to an awsome weekend.

Great finds, you must be hunting around the home of someone who used to bury all their money in the yard,Id be working that place very hard. Ive dug up a roll of pennys one time and a buddy of mine dug up a roll of dimes. I wonder if people actually buried these or if they were lost?

hi,
sounds like the ring is stamped 800 (the standard for portugal)
that is 19.2ct gold.
i have a ring thats stamped 800,it has a stags head above it.also the hallmarks are stamped on the outside of the ring at the bottom.

hope that helps.
shaun.

Congrats on the First for you! Its always nice when you can dig just a couple of holes and find so many coins. I'v only been able to do that once in over 20 years.......HH

Thanks..This helps a lot. I looked at it again and it does look like a stags head with 800 under it. The sure do make those hallmarks small. I still have not had the diamond tested but I would assume it is real if it is in 19.2ct gold. The diamond is rather small so even if it is real I don't think it would be worth very much.

Yeah it was a rush especially once I figured out what I had. The dimes just kept coming. Did not know one was silver until I got home.

Thanks for the comments.
