Is at after my chiropractor appointment I decided to put my back to a test. I hiked into this spot I have wanted to detect. It's about a hour walk each way. I get to what looks like is a good area to start. This place has some old foundations and spends most of the time under water. The lake is low right now so it's accessible. I start swinging away. Lots of square nails all over the ground. I get a good signal. It's inly 2 inches deep. A wheat penny. I keep hunting. A couple hours pass and finally a scream comes through my headphones. I pinpoint it. Start digging and about three inches down in the hole I see round. But it's an odd size round. It's bigger then most coins I find. I take a picture of it before I know what it is. I pick it up and I'm still lost on what it could be. I walk it down to the water to rinse the dirt off. I dip it in the leak and that's when I see "one cent". Oh my. My first large cent. I put it in my prescription bottle I have with me I keep water in to keep old coins safe while I hunt. I continue to hunt but I want to see what year it is. But I don't want to damage it. So I call it a day. I start walking back to my car. I can't help it. I have to see. I stop, pull it out. And dry it off. 1847.
This place in the last couple weeks has given up two seated dimes to. 1840 and an 1852. I think I'll keep going back for a while.
