Today I got permission to hunt a small strip, and I was able to turn up a Shield Nickel. This is the first one I've ever found. Shields are pretty old for my area, so they're rare. Too bad the date is worn completely off, but I'll take it!

I also found a 1941 D Wheat. The area was super clean besides these finds.

Thanks for looking!

Congrats on that sweet coin, even if it's worn. I hope you have good luck if you return there.

Smiles!

Nice finds, and a first is a first. Must be nice to hunt something without trash. L8R

Congrats on the Nickel, DB.

That's cool! I'm still waiting to find my first shield nickel! There's actually a lot of "firsts" I'm waiting for . . . . half cent, large cent, two cent, three cent, flying eagle cent, seated dime, Standing Liberty quarter, Barber Quarter, any Bust coinage, etc etc. . . . . but I do have a $10 gold coin! So I guess I can't complain!

I have many in your list of firsts; I'd gladly trade them to find a $10 gold piece. My shield is dateless, too. For much of my life, I was too. Maybe my nickname should have been "shield nickel."

Shield niks are in the 1860's so that one is a real find for sure!!!!

Congrats!!!!!!!!!!!! :o :o ;D ;D
