My friend Robert and I tried a few new spots that we secured permission to hunt. We had very little success at the "new" places so we headed back to a field where we had hunted last weekend and found some relics. About 5 mins into this field I got a deep iron reading and started digging. I pulled out a piece of iron and rescanned the hole. More iron in there. As I'm digging , pieces of feather edge dishes, cups and a layer of ashes are exposed. Finally, I hit iron. Turns out , that's exactly what it was ...a flat iron for ironing clothes. A few minutes later I got another signal...this one non-ferrous. I removed some dirt and saw the edge of a green disc in the ground. It was a large flat button. I found a little lead and whatsits also. When Robet and I reconviened at the truck , I asked him if he found anything. He held up a bent piece of brass and asked me what it is. I told him it is a spur..and from what i can see , it looks to be civillian or Confederate...a very nice find.

Thanx for looking and HH y'all

Nice iron. My mother in law has a large collection of those.

That's one thing I have never managed to find. A complete spur. I have stood by while buddies dug them four or five times over the years, but no luck for me.

After viewing your post, I have decided that this is the year. :icon_thumleft: Great find!
