This piece was found in Hertfordshire it seems to be hollow and also have , what looks like little handles one on each side does anyone have a clue what this maybe it looks handmade?? Please any help would b grateful

Almost no doubt that this is a broken spearhead. The only doubt would be the age of it. Probably Bronze Age...

Here is an example (Chinese spearhead though) to illustrate the hypothesis :

Great find !

I know nothing about spears, but I know wood strength.

How thick were the handles of those old spears? Would they taper down to such a small point to fit into that hollow and still remain strong?

Cool find!

I also thought it was part of a broken toy. What is it made out of? It looks like diecast to me.

Here is another example of a European Bronze Age Spearhead :

Look at the size of the fingers compared to the actual size of the spearhead. It is similar to the one Nat&Maine found.
Of course, spearheads come in different sizes and shapes. If I can pinpoint an even better match, I will post it.

Here is another example of a Middle Bronze Age (1500 BC) spearhead from East Anglia, UK.

It is closer in shape and makes me a little more confident on the age of this spearhead.

Finally, this one recorded on the PAS, which may actually be even closer in size and shape : (Again, Middle Bronze Age)

som-d83264,P20.webp

Record ID: SOM-D83264 - BRONZE AGE spearhead - Database

Here are its dimensions and weight :

Dimensions and weight
Length: 108.58 mm (that is 4.3 inches)
Width: 15.11 mm (that is 0.6 inch)
Weight: 40.6 g

You can again see the same strip-shaped loops on the socket.

Again, I think this piece is a spearhead and it can probably be dated as Middle Bronze Age.

Hell don't feel bad doublet2a:laughing7: !! That's exactly what I thought it was. Remember the ones you screwed the nose piece off and put a few paper caps in the end ! you threw it in the air, then when it hit the ground it popped like crazy, scaring the heck out of your mom and most likely got a whuppin' over it!! LOL! I think they called them torpedoes or something like that! HAHAHA I'm glad I wasn't the only one !!! The Kid

Looking at the patina, I would say its most likely bronze.
