Took advantage of this last reprieve from winter to get another constitutional walk.

Had a fine day. Enough finds to keep me busy and a nice find or two:

Still don't know my bullets but the one on the right seems older.

Seems like an older style button too.

But, there was a find that helped me to walk away smiling today.

I can't remember, have I ever told you about how this sight
just NEVER gets old with me? ;)

Next to positive it's silver but my tired ole eyes just can't make this
mark out. If I hold it one way it looks like 545, another 895 and yet another 645.
This is the best I can capture. Maybe someone who's more familiar with the possibilities
can give a hint. I'll try testing tomorrow.

In any case, a wonderful finish to the year if it's the last one I get.

Oh yeah! The surprise find? Well, while I was sitting in my easy chair, my keys fell down between the cushions.

When I reached in to fish them back out, I found this.

Now, no, my chair is NOT that old! :)
It's one of the indian heads I had been working with to clean up from way back in the summer sometime. I'd never missed it!
Got soooo many of them I guess. LOL

I still say you need to keep a very diligent eye on the finds we dig up. They weren't just lost way back when. They ESCAPED! They did not want to be found and will keep trying to get away if not watched! If you don't believe me, just watch how many of them literally jump out of your hands and try to get back in the hole! Or when you get them home, watch how many try to jump off a table and roll across the floor to try and reach the heat vents.

Although, there is another possibility in my house.

Of course! ;) LOL

Thanks for stopping by!

Keep yer eye on that lil lizard, cold makes them do silly things. Still plan day bye day, for digging, but the end is close here also

Nice finds! Sooo how long did it take Blingie to confiscate the ring? He must have quite the collection by now!
I' say he's been sitting in your chair checking out your coins , again. I don't think those coin always roll for the vent on their own! He's been up to some thing, maybe he invented a coin magnet, he's a very smart one you know!
Congrats on getting out and making some real nice finds! HH!

I'm sure the ring is marked .925, meaning it is sterling silver.

Congrats.Awesome looking ring.HH.

Oh, I'm sure he's been up to stuff. ;) But, this thing where finds try to get themselves back into hiding has been going on for longer than Blingie's been around. If ya don't believe me, just watch your finds closer. See how many times you drop them. LOL

Thanks!

Are you sure because you can read it on my pic, or just because that's what's expected to be found?
No matter what way I look at it, I just cannot make it say 925 in my mind. Just doesn't look like that to me. But, that's just my tired ole eyes. :)

Thanks!

nice ring. the bullets look to be modern .22 and .38

I wish it said .925 for you but to my tired old eyes, it looks like 545. I haven't researched any info yet on that....have you? Good luck.

Some 14K white gold is marked 545

Ya know, I was just about to ask. I tested it for 10kt and it's holding but not at 14kt. Yet, if I put the silver testing stuff on it, it seems to react as silver, (turns red). Would sterling hold up to a 10kt test? :icon_scratch: :dontknow:

See above. I did try to test it. :icon_scratch:

I like the ring, I really like the IH, it is in very nice shape!

Could be 10K, I think 14K is actually 585. Not sure about the test kit results. Does it ring up high or low on the VDI?

I do tend to forget that I have a way to determine gold from silver these days. The AT-Pro itself. :)

With a VDI of 80, the testing solutions, the look and feel. I'm ready to conclude this is silver. What grade is still out.

Thanks!

(Now just where did I put that microscope?!) ;)

Yeah sounds like silver for sure ringing up at 80 and being thin.

It doesn't make sense to me that anyone would put black onyx in white gold. It isn't a precious stone, and silver shows it off just fine. On the other hand, have you looked closely to make sure it isn't black opal? Does it have any color flashes? Either way, it is still a nice showy piece!

I agree w/ Jewelerguy on your bullets. Save your lead-- B.O. has signed new legislation that will close the only remaining lead processing plant in the U.S.
