Mercury dimes have been escaping me since spring. I've never found one. I've found multiples of things I'd never expect, 1000's of clad coins, but never a Merc. I finally did it!
Also, a little ring that doesn't have a stamp, but looks very sterling. There is a crack in it where the owner sodered it back together. You can see the burn mark on the inside. But I'm not sure if it's silver.

Nice finds! I'm still looking for my first merc.

SweeeeeeeSweeeet good for you

Congrats on your first Merc and a double silver hunt!

Doesn't look like a silver weld. Is it heavy? I think it may be white gold

congrats on your first merc! now your addicted lol

Nice ring and a great first merc, congratulations!

Nice getting the first merc ! The ring looks silver to me ,it's quite common for the solder to discolor like that to a brassy grey color .

Sweet coins, especially your first merc! Too me a while to find mine as well. Well done!

Great Find! I am also waiting to find my first Merc. What a beautiful coin! In several years of beach hunting, I have only found one silver coin, so I need to change my strategy. Congrats on the find!

Congrats on your first merc and ring. There are a lot of firsts in this hobby good luck

Congrats on digging your 1st Merc. :occasion14: You broke the ice, the next one will be under your coil real soon. I can take you to the spot where I dug my 1st one back in 2014. You always remember your 1st.

Congrats on your first Merc dime. I would put it in a holder and label it as your first one, and where you found it. Like Loco said, I could take you right to the spot I found my first Merc, (and that was 30 years ago) ! Someday I may forget where I found it, and the 2x2 holder will be there to remind me.

Congratulations on a great hunt! Take a small square of aluminum foil and put it in the palm of your hand. Next place the ring in the middle of the foil and spit on the ring. I know its gross but make sure the spit creates a contact with both the foil and ring. Then smell it after a few seconds.....if it smells like rotten eggs, you have silver.

Congrats. The first one is always special

Sweet First Merc! :headbang:

Looks like it’s in great shape.
Congratulations!
