I hit that "Swell" beach a couple more times and was thoroughly surprised by this:

I knew it was silver but when I saw the flying eagle ... I was stunned  . This is only my 2nd SLQ ( the last one was like 2011) and both came from wet sand at the beach!

Gotta Love this hobby!

Great quarter with outstanding detailing, I've found 4 since I've been hunting

but sure don't look as good as yours, very well preserved. Nice find. HH

Wow! Amazing how very old finds like that can resurface after being lost for so long.

Very detailed...Nice catch...

I'D GO BACK TO THAT SPOT AND WORK IT SLOW AND HARD - MIGHT BE SOME GOLD JUST AS OLD THERE

That is a beauty! Sweet!

WOW!! That 's in great condition for a beach sand find!

Very nice ; Get back there ....find the rest of them.

If that quarter could talk and tell of it's travels.........
I agree with others. Get back there and work it slow.

that's crazy. awesome find !

That's got a very clear date! Nice find!

That particular spot on the beach "opens up" when we have some large tides plus storms or swells.

I went back there three times this past week and got zip. But of course I keep that spot in mind always. The last time it opened up was in 2011 and I pulled out a few '60's silver and a ton of clad.

I am pretty lucky living so close to two main beaches (less than three miles)....and each beach has multiple zones that "open up" under varying conditions. My detecting life these past 6+ years has been trying to figure out which conditions and where to hunt.

Absolutely a great find!

very cool Congrats!

Nice find on the SLQ and very good date. I've only found one in fresh water and the date was wore off.

Great find!! Ray
