Hey TNET,

Today we decided to take a full day dig with MonkeyBoy, and see what we could dig at one of those old reliable sites. My son was dying to dig today as he just came home for the holidays from college and hadn't dug in at least a month. It began fairly slow with the occasional bullet or iron piece until my son decides to hit a pocket of relics no bigger that 15 feet by 15 feet from which he pulled a total of 16 bullets, two buttons, and a tampion not pictured from a previous trip. As the day progressed we continued to hit a few smaller pockets of relics and ended up with our pouches full and a good day of digging behind us. Today we dug a total different types of bullets ranging from the Enfield rounds to the large .69 caliber bullets, including the two variants high and low base, along with the base to a parrot shell and some other shrapnel. The list goes on but I'll let the pictures show the rest of the finds.

Happy Hunting and I hope everyone has a good Thanksgiving coming up,

~pitdiggers~

Hey,

Just FYI...the arrowhead is a Lecroy...early to mid-archaic (5000-9000 bp).

Thanks for the ID, just like MonkeyBoy had said we were trying to figure out where we had seen that before but couldn't remember so thanks for helping us out.

Looks great all together like that. I wonder if there's a single Riker case big enough to hold it all. Very nice haul. I bet those shell fragments will clean up nicely with electrolysis.

holey smokes I dream of a day like that

Hey,there might be a Tongue and Wreath buckle there!Your second picture is a tightner for a T&W buckle, one usually associated with a cast buckle to boot! Not often do we find that part and not the rest of the buckle!!!

You are Exactly right on the ID. It might be a snake buckle--but I am siding with Tongue and Wreath for now, because I cannot find an example of a Period snake buckle that fits.

And yes, the rest of the buckle should be there--because if that piece was lost, then the whole belt was likely tossed out.
