Detector(s) used
Minelab E-Trac - 11" Pro, 6" EQ2 coils
Primary Interest:
Metal Detecting
Packed the e-Trac on my back, along with batteries, radios, pro and 6" coils, knee pads, rags, and other needed items. Put my belt with pouches, pro-pointer, and diggers around my waist. I hopped onto my 21 speed Mountain Bike, and off I went like a crazy person headed for a local County park...The ride there was like 12 miles....I hunted for 3 hours and found 1 1945 Merc, 1936, 44, 50, 57 Wheats, and 1946, 61, 63 and 69 Nickels, then made the trip home which was about another 13 miles (Went all the way around Onondaga Lake)....By the time I got home, my butt was bruised, my legs and back were sore, and I was beat....I am WAY out of shape (unless round counts)...Lots of folks and their pets in the park on Memorial Day.
A Big Thank YOU to all Veterans!

Cool, I do most of my detecting from a bike too, and sometime much more than a 12-13 mile radius.

Glad you got a silver for the effort.

Not to be hijacking your thread, but if you get a sec. you can take a look at this video.

it's only like 1:42 long in total.

nice finds congrats HH

Congrats on the finds, nice silver.

Hey hey GoGo. Great finds. Congratulations on your bike ride. Haven't been to Onondaga Lake in a couple years. Say hi to Doc if you see him. Dave

Great finds and thanks for the mention of the Vets!

Nice finds GoGoGopher.

Nice finds gopher and you can't really be too out of shape doing a ride like that with all your gear and 3 hours of swinging the coil. I used to bike a lot and need to get back doing it. Can't quite picture how you are carrying your etrac though.

nice! I travel by bike to a couple of my favorite spots. Beats walking!

I have to break it down into its 3 sections and put it in the backpack...zippers will not close all the way, so need to use a plastic cinch to hold zippers from opening. Rest of gear goes in other sections of the pack...It is a frameless pack with padding...Coleman makes it, and bought at Wally-World.

HH,

That is one blazing merc

Syracuse, NY was once known as the "Salt City". back in the day, more table salt came from Syracuse, than anywhere else...The Salt industry died off and the "Allied Proccess" ruined the lake....Thge lake is now "THE" most poluted lake in the nation. Mercury and other contaminates were dumped raw into the lake. Cleanup is ongoing and they say it is supposed to be clean by 2023...I somehow do not believe that. Brine water in the ground around the lake (which was once a salt lake), is where the salt came from.
The salt that is still in the ground, combined with fertilizers and Goose Droppings, makes for some ugly looking coins coming out of the ground.

HH,
