A musket buttstock. Regiment?

Hello,

Found this musket buttstock in July with some other pieces scattered around it. The number seems to indicate G/23 I was wondering if it might indicate the regiment the rifle belonged to as I have found a piece of 23rd Regiment of foot soldiers belt plate a few feet away.

Looks like the butt plate from probably a 3rd model brown bess. I'd have to look it up. That is the rack number on it. The grenadier's badge goes to the 23rd Regiment of Foot. All are extremely excellent finds. Best guess, War of 1812 if found in Canada.
