I recently saw a similar spur on the net, it was IDed as post Civil War (1865 or later, Indian War). I hope it is earlier but doubtful as they did not get too fancy during the CW war. HH and let us know what you find out, Mike
 

Very interesting find. Is it silver? Probably not it would break to easily.

It is made of brass, I wish it were silver...that would be sweet!

That actually makes sense, I guess they would be more occupied with a war than making fancy spurs.
