Cool story. But did you see all that dried mud silt ? Looks like silting would have ruined any detecting anyhow. In the low-lakes in CA, this is an issue wherever bottom flats are @ the exposed bottoms. But if the side is sloped, I've noticed that it doesn't tend to be silted in those spots.

Well I got news for her: Perhaps at HER particular federal lake right there. But no, not at all "public land". People md public land ALL THE TIME and "collect items", haha

I can see what you mean by silting - we just don't get dry years like this on the Northwet coast to get used to seeing our lake beds -
