Detector(s) used
Whites and Garrett. I use several machines, the ace 350 is a nice machine. I have a 5900, 6000, whites.
Primary Interest:
Relic Hunting
I have been detecting for 20 years give or take a few months, the last several years I have found maybe 50 give or take 1859 Canadian large cents, today I found one of the hardest large cents, the 1858, it is just about as hard to find the 1859 brass penny, or one of our 20 cent peace. I did some map searching the other day, I found that on this one corner out in the country there were buildings on both corners, there was an early village not far from the corner, 1838 there was a mill and several homes and of coarse a tavern or two. So I went for a drive to look around and to my surprize there was the farmer out working his land, also it was his land. We spoke a bit, he was quite friendly and he told me there were 4 taverns on the four corners, he told me who owns them all. He said go a head, thank you I said, now I was in for some nice surprizes, here they are. IMG_0250.webpIMG_0251.webpIMG_0253.webpIMG_0254.webp As you can see the field was smooth as a babies bottom, I think they must of had many loose pockets, this tavern site was good, I just wonder what the others hold, I will find out some time soon, there are crops in the fields now. Those coppers are in incredible shape. What a cool assortment of US and Canadian official issues, and CAN bank tokens.

Would love some better pictures if you get the chance. But excellent finds regardless. Congrats on your 1858.

You would have had to run me off with finds like that.....Nice job

Nice going on the permission for the sites Brian, and getting the /58. You really got a good site going with all those coppers coming up, hopefully there might be some silver.
I think I've dug at least four/59s and one /58 this spring still waiting for the first brass.

Congratualtions on the nice old coppers! :occasion14:

Wow is right great score on your research. That's the key to a great hunt love all your coins hh gl

A '58 in Canada holds a lot of weight. I dunno if everyone understands that, and it's rarity. Congrats on a killer early Canada LC

No silver yet, they will plow some time, the 58 is a hard one to find. HH

Dirt fishing is good most times, there was a town with homes there, the original family still there, lots of history.

Great finds! Congratulations on your bucket lister. Probably still some nice stuff on the first corner. Plows move stuff a good distance sometimes.

Congrats. Those look like some great coins.

Congrats on some nice finds! :occasion14:
