It was way too hot to go out and hunt in the sun. So I decided to relocate my activities to the woods. Didn't find anything special except a thimble saying PFAFF on it. Pfaff was a major producer of sewing machines in Germany. I did not find a single coin today - grrrr. Just before heading back to the car I found this. To me it Looks like a saddle badge of some sort but I'm just not sure. It measures just under 2" in diameter. Does anybody have an idea???? Thank's for your input!
This find is actually 3 hours old....

Odd looking .... guess that’s a horse on it ? Saddle badge would make sense wonder how old

It was strapped onto a piece of leather in a horizontal line of other horse harness brasses as decoration on a horse.

very cool finds, one cool once ornate item and a finger saver. that was my mother's favorite sewing machine

Congrats on the nice two finds! :occasion14:

Thats an interesting find i've not seen before. Horse harness like Crusader stated before but no idea on the age. Not that old i think.

Looks like a watch fobwith the back part missing

dear friends,

I contacted The Collectors Horse Brasses and received a very prompt answer from Lynn and Matthew with many thanks reading as follows:

We have looked at the horse brass you have found. We think it is German in origin and is very like the horse brasses worn by brewery dray horses etc. It does however looks to be very primitive and therefore looks older than the usual circa 1900 brasses of this type we have had in the past similar, it's very difficult to tell as it has been in the ground so long.

This is just to let you know what I have found out about the item.
Best of luck and god bless and protect our friends on the s-east coast

It will be interesting to research the Pfaff thimble too.

I forgot, because I assume too much, I knew it to be circa mid 19th C.
