So a month ago, I buy my daughter a package deal and what sold the deal was the Pin Pointer. So today, I finally get to see the outfit and the MD is doing good, but the Pin Pointer, well, let's just say, it's less than adequate. If I was the Company selling these things, I would not let this unit go out the Door. Geesh !!

Package deals can look promising, but sometimes it sure seems like they are just trying to get rid of stuff that is last generation. I bought a pin-pointer and digging tool on line last night. Place I bought it from had a package deal that I thought seemed too good to be true. I opted for a different brand and had to buy the pin-pointer and digger separately. Cost me about $30 more, but I bought what I really wanted instead of settling for the cheaper price.

I hope I made the right choice.

Well, there is a saying.. "Nothing is Free" and "You get what you Pay for" Second one can be false more often than true these days.
Unfortunately it takes a lot of time to properly research a new hobby, especially when it includes electronics. For instance, the cheapest Pin pointier is $16 and will pick up a dime at about 1/2inch and will break down in 2 days. The current hand held dept king is the Whites TRX which will pick up a dime at about 3" and a quarter at 4", this selling for about $140 and has a 2 year warranty . Had you know this before you bought the package, would you have opted for the $140 Pinpointer or still gone with the one in the package ??

Contact the company's service rep. It just may be defective.

its true its prolly defective.every one of em is that come with the f2.defective design, defective functionality.I immediately got my wife a pro pointer and now she is happy and effective in the field.I dont believe how far a pin pointer sees a coin is the total answer either.
For us...the pro pointer has filled the bill beautifully.no complaints or even advice to garrett on improvement.
chalk it up as a learning deal and move on.

cheers

I bought three of these "bargain" pinpointers and spent maybe 80 dollars between the three, for which I got nothing but junk. Then I bought the Propointer and realized how much a good pinpointer could actually do for you.

I don't need my pin pointer croaking on me while I'm out detecting, so I paid for that assurance, so far so good!
TRX hadn't come out yet when I got mine.

Yeah, lesson learned. I'm real happy with my Pro Find, but I think I'll get a Pro Pointer on the way. Gotta see how the other side lives ! Lol

I have the Garrett Pro Pointer and the Whites TRX!
Both are very good devices but I prefer the Garrett!
