Hi! Well I've been spending alot of time in the "what is it" forum but I had to come in here to show it off...... seen" relics forum" and I knew this would be a good candidate. I found it when I was 16 after my dad bought a house that needed remodeled or rather improvements. The house was built in 1843 in Medina county, ohio. It had no plumbing and no electric and was basically as it was when built.I was always looking for treasure and the attic and wall cavities and crawl space seen my flashlight..... We lived there for a few year's and I was still searching when I found this in 1984 in one of the walls found from the attic looking down to first floor wall cavity by useing a flashlight a magnet with fishing string. Its stamped J. SWEET on the hook. This is the work of a black Smith and was lost when the house was young..... what do you all feel it is? I think it was to aid in carrying buckets or the chamber pot. This is a real item and not modern as you could pick an item up with any modern blacksmith. Lots of cool detail in it!
