The story you are about to read is true...no names were changed to protect the innocent

Upstate Ny , it was partly sunny and high 40's..I was on daywatch :laughing9:

Anyway up at the crack of dawn :icon_sunny: and standing at the site of the Mohawk indian castle wiped out in the 1600's
New Duracells in the DFX and my very first target was a pretty big chunk of lead , but no ordinary lead...a carved piece...I believe meant to represent a hawk..I LOVE it , it is truly a work of art

He is really cool..on his right side he has the look of a hawk with the turned down beak tip and on his left side he looks like the T-Rex from Jurassic park !

Spent about 6 hours at this site digging lead , brass points , and another carved piece I feel was meant to be a turtle...third turtle found here.

About noon Rock ditched work early and joined me...He dug his first carved lead piece...a strange looking thing we think is supposed to be a duck. He was pretty excited...his first carved lead figure !!! WTG Rock !!

About 2 PM we headed over to the field I found the GW inaugural button in.
Still covered in chopped corn stalks it was fairly easy to search since the stalks are flattened out from snow.
I cant wait till the farmers plow hits this field !! Waiting patiently :tongue1:

Started out where I dug the inaugural and where most of the coins have been found...Dug a heart-shaped piece of brass with rivets , a coloial button , and amazingly 2 KG coppas !!

The first was a KG III date 1772 and the second I believe is a KG I but very worn.

First photo I'm posting is of the 3 carved lead guys I dug last summer.

The rest are of yeasterdays digs

Thanks for looking and keep swinging

Derek, you are on a coppa roll for 2008. You are a true professional who knows where to swing his WHITE'S DFX. :blob10:

I have not seen too many of those lead objects before, which has just got my Colonial mind a wondering again. :happy3: They are definitely cool little buggards, Derek Dude! :icon_cheers:

Keep on hitting those fields with your WHITE'S machine, and scanning the ancient doyt (dirt) for more of those GW buttons.

Kyle

Some really great finds there. Hope you are able to find more. WTG

you may want to do some research on those triangles, some indians used to make arrow heads out of scrap metal, go to the bookstore and look through the book Overstreet Indian Arrowheads, seventh edition. Ive walked allot of cornfields for arrowheads but never found one made of metal. your finds look very much like them. very good finds!
WTG!

The lead pieces were the find of the day for sure. KG coppers are nice but I would take a great artifact anyday over a KG copper. Nice going Derek!
