Today I got out detecting to a local park, I detected for a long time, and found nothing but clad, so I changed my location to a local landmark school. I was having really rough luck when I found an overgrown old footpath leading into the woods, I got a strong signal and started to dig.... I dug, and dug, and dug, and dug, and finally, when there was about 2 inches of snow on the ground around me and I was diggin alone, hacking into the frozen ground in the middle of a blizzard, a nice indian popped out. By this time it was obviously time to go get some cocoa so I headed in for the day. At home, I found that the indian actually had a coin stuck to the back of it! I was excited thinking it was another indian but could just barely make out a portrait of lincoln. I tried very hard to clean up the coin clump without damaging the coins, but got so fed up I just dumped it into an electrolysis setup and went out for a while. When I got back, I brushed off the coins and was horrified to find that what I had just ripped all the patina off was a 1909-S wheat cent! DANGIT!!!! Oh well, it's still a really cool find, but i'm in a little bit of a dilemma.... I could either seperate the two coins to check if it's a vdb, or I could leave it stuck together as a cool conversation piece. As I stand now I'm gonna leave 'em stuck together, what would you guys do? That was my only good find of the day, and I'm sure that I could find some oddities collector who would love to buy it.... But I think I'm gonna keep it for now. I would post pics, but it really wouldn't show anything. The wheat cent is just about the most hideous coin I have ever seen, all corroded, and now shiny with pits of black all over it.... But it's still a 1909-S! I actually could barely even read the date and only the shadow of a mintmark under 100X magnification! But i'm still happy with it. I would literally grade it a Poor-1. Oh well, it's awesome in my book, and it will make a good story to tell my grandkids in about 80 years....

does sound cool, might as well leave it as is, but a pic would be cooler

I think I would leave them stuck together. If it's in that poor condition, it is better to leave the mystery there. I'd love to see some pics though. Congrats and I bet that Cocoa was nice after all the snow. ;)
