I was going to do a post called "Detecting in the snow", but when I looked out of the front door I realized I wasn't going anywhere.
1.webp
I decided to take Benson for a walk instead, the next shot is looking out of my back door.
2.webp
The next 3 shots are from two walks I had with Benson over the Common and fields.
3.webp

I took this last shot just now 20.45hrs and the temp is minus 3c / 26.6 f

Hopefully the snow wont last for long, I have a field to detect. I don't mind detecting in the snow, but I just can't get there at the moment >:(. Maybe the roads will be cleared by the weekend :laughing7:.

Is the word you are looking for "frigid" :tongue3:.

Cool pics.. How old is that church? No chance at detecting the field in your pics? :laughing7:

Colder.....much colder!

Great pics. And I sign of what is yet to come for me. I'm dreading that day. :'(

Cool shots. Love that old church. Bad timing for snow with a new field to hunt, but when it melts it will be great for M.D. My M.D. allways does better with wet dirt.

Thanks mate :icon_thumleft:. The church was built between 1100 and 1105, prior to that it was the site of a Saxon minster. I have a much better field all lined up, when I can get there :laughing7:.

It's come early for us, very early. We don't normally get our snow until the end of December to mid January. It's got something to do with the Jet Stream moving.

yeah, you might find your car with a little luck. :D

Pb, it's been snowing fairly lightly all evening. That is not the problem, the problem is the authorities have saved money by selling off all the snow clearing equipment, and now even a light snow can cause havoc. So far we've had about 6 or 7 inches, I just hope the wind doesn't pick up and cause drifting.

I'll be on the field as soon as the roads are cleared, the farmers are doing that round here :icon_thumleft:.

I'll ask the vicar if I can take some pics for you, on a humid day the medieval paintings show through the puritan whitewash, quite a sight :icon_thumleft:.

Just put 'er in 4 wheel drive and go. You can drive in snow until it gets too deep, but you can't drive at all on ice. I like the pic of the church at night. You folks do be careful if you have to get out on the roads.

Thank you for the web site! There is some great info an beautiful pics there! Now the only thing needed is when the spring thaw happens an it gets humid again if its ok with the vicker get a photo of the paintings on the whitewash wall I would think they are really beautiful ! :icon_sunny:
