My buddy recently purchased an old elementary school at auction that was built in the 1960s. Based on research I do know that there was another older school on the property before this one destroyed by fire in 1959, so that's always a good thing! I put in a good solid hunt the other day and found some goodies including: A little pile of clad, 6 wheaties, a couple rings (One sweet sterling silver snake ring pictured below!), and an unexpected older large button. It's my new go to spot & right down the road from my house - I can't wait to hammer it hard!

*Notice that the original wall in front is still there!

PS - Any help with the age/type of button would be appreciated! I'm still learning about them.

My buddy is currently looking into renovating and converting it into assisted living apartments.

Good finds gotta be there whe. They move the dirt around gotta be loaded with cool stuff

As a general rule, steel backed buttons are 20th C. Earlier two piece buttons typically had a brass back that wouldn't rust like yours.

Nice finds! Hard to tell what you may find there! Congrats & Good Luck

you have a honey hole for years to come. Cant wait to see what you pull out of there. Search Pennpilot.com and see how far the old school dates back.

That place will keep you busy for awhile. I'm thinking pizza delivery around 2pm.

Ziggy, all I can say is you've got yourself one excellent hunting location, dig often and dig deep, keep us posted too HH

Nice finds. Congrats. I bet lots of students sat on that wall with legs hanging over. That’s where I’d be detecting. Good luck.

Said the luckiest guy in town,.....

Once in a lifetime spot, and it's right down the street.

Thums up.webp

That's a really neat ring......

Treasure awaits. Probably some fill dirt, so the old stuff may be deep. Low and slow, dig the whispers. Good luck.

That was one of my first thoughts..the wall, hunt the wall....

That place has to be loaded with finds ! Nice little snake ring. Good luck on return trips.

Search hard between the Wall & the Grass. Most Likely Many Kids sat on that Wall,
Loosing things in Between

Interesting...you live right down the road and haven’t hit the old school until now? Well, whateva good luck to you!
