I love the door knocker, as well as the keys like everyone else. I love skeleton keys.

Welcome as well like Diesel said.

Thanks! And no, not a knocker. It looks like a handle for some type of furniture. There were actually 6 that I found. This is the old homestead. It's out in the middle of the woods with no roads.

That place looks awesome! How did you find it? What state are you in?

Crawdigger,
First off welcome to the "Net", Second congrats on the cool finds
Can you tell what the thing in the second picture is ? is it metal or something else?

looks like a shoe last to me...

I'm not sure what it is. There is stamping on one side which reads, "guaranteed nickel silver" and it also has 2 rivets near the edge. Any idea?

I cant wait to see what you find next, you have hit it well for sure!!

Thanks for all the welcomes and Diesel, I'm located in Louisiana. I located this and two other old homesteads with an old topographical map. You'd never know the other two even existed if not for the occasional brick and old bottles on the ground. But the effort is worth it and these sites have usually never been hunted!

Welcome to TNet!

Great finds. Man, I'd dig it all where you are!

Sweet finds there!

More keys in one hunt than I have found in three years!!! lol.. CONGRATS... HH

Thanks fish. Not all of the keys were dug up. Some were still in the original locks on the doors (I will be returning with tools to retrieve!). But if u want more keys hunt more old homes. I still haven't found a civil war bullet. Probably cause I don't have lots of access to battlefields. But good luck searching!!

Welcome.
I have to admit that my first thought was "Gee I would have hated to be the guy who had to go out and get new keys every time one was lost."

Cool finds.
Roy

Lol! Yeah! That would be MY kinda luck! Hmmm...maybe I should give my own yard a once over. You got me thinking now! Thanks for the reply and happy hunting!
