It states "Relatives of Dr. Carr", just guessing there probably was a Nelson family member involved. Maybe part of this supposed gold got Willie his start. Abbott home of the Red headed stranger. I can listen to Willie all day.

This was nonsence and nothing was found. 1940"s I think a group brought in heavy equipment and spent several weeks excavating. They too found nothing. Just an old Texas legend. As for Willie, his family didn't have a pot to piss in or a window to throw it out of until he went to Nashville and failed as a singer. But he wrote Hello Walls for Faron Young and Crazy for Patsy Cline. It wasn't until 1975 or so that he headed for Austin and "Redneck Rock" was born. That's when he gained real fame as a performer. I was there then, caught in the magic and the music. Ah, to be young again. By the way, many of Willie's songs that he recorded were written by others...

I read your post several Times & Was completely Lost on
"Nelson Family" & "Willie" & "Red Headed stranger ?"
All completely Confusing to me .

Wasn't till I got though austin's post that I connected Nelson to the name Willie & that there was a Willie Nelson who is somewhat Famous.

So I take it your saying this willie Nelson Grew up in that area ?

I grew up in West, TX just 10 minutes south of Abbott. I live in Austin now, but I went to see my parents this past weekend and asked my dad if he had ever heard anything about this since he was born in 1946. He told me that he remembers hearing about it as a kid, but growing up poor on a farm with 9 brothers & sisters had him focused on bigger priorities than buried treasure. If there's anyone that has more information on this, I'd love to talk with you and discuss it in more detail.

this one may have been a April fool Prank Even though it was printed a day early.
Since the Original Treasure Supposedly dates to 1836, Confederate Money doesn't make sense to Me.
I think Confederacy was supposedly born on Feb 04, 1861 ? ? ?


Don't take this as me Trying to Argue with you austin, Just my
normal curiosity and adding what I find
as I research

Though Like I always Believe all stories have some Truth in them.
Thinking outside the Box, Could the Treasure have been Civil War related,
and the Story Exaggerated to the $1.5 Million Mexican Treasure ?

what's odd though is the instance nothing was found.
people didn't have reason to hide their Treasure finds from the powers that be back then. and I would have thought this find would have been discussed more if it really happened.
